This 7 day tour, starts and ends in Cairo, Egypt. In Cairo we have a full day tour of the Pyramids, Sphinx & Cairo Museum and then 2 nights in Luxor with a full day tour of the Valley of the Kings and another tour of Luxor and Karnak temple amongst many other ancient Pharaonic sites.

Itinerary

Upon your arrival, our team will warmly welcome you at the airport, aiding with visa formalities and luggage, followed by transferring you to your hotel to commence your journey. They will facilitate your settling-in process, familiarize you with the surroundings, and detail tomorrow's itinerary. The remainder of the day is yours to explore at your leisure. If time permits, you may opt for an evening Nile dinner cruise or attend a mesmerizing sound and light show at the pyramids, both conveniently available for booking upon arrival to immerse yourself in the local experiences.

Our journey through Egypt commences with a drive to Giza, just outside Cairo, to explore the enigmatic Sphinx and the renowned trio of pyramids. Accompanied by a knowledgeable Egyptologist guide, these ancient wonders offer a fascinating glimpse into Egypt's rich history. The Great Pyramid of Khufu astounds with its colossal stone blocks and weathered limestone exterior. Along with the smaller pyramids of Khafre (Chephern) and Menkaure (Mycerinus), the grandeur of these structures emerging from the desert remains awe-inspiring. For those interested, the opportunity to venture inside the pyramids is available, although guides cannot accompany due to limited a tickets for the Great Pyramid. Subsequently, our journey leads us to the Egyptian Museum, housing a remarkable array of ancient relics, including the captivating Tutankhamun exhibit. Later in the evening, we transfer to the station for an overnight sleeper train voyage to Luxor, an approximate 9-hour journey. Enjoy dinner in your private twin-berth compartments before settling in for the night as the steward prepares your sleeping arrangements.

As the morning sun graces Luxor's horizon, we embark on an exploration of Luxor's West Bank. This revered realm hosts the illustrious Valley of the Kings, where ancient tombs continue to unveil enigmatic tales, rendering it a pivotal archaeological site globally. Our tour unveils several sacred Pharaonic tombs, alongside Queen Hatchepsut's temple, Deir el-Medina's Valley of the Craftsmen, and the imposing Colossi of Memnon. Afternoon leisure beckons as you indulge in the luxuries of your 5-star Nile-front hotel. Today's morning invites relaxation, allowing a well-deserved rest after yesterday's early activities. Post-lunch, our journey leads us to the sprawling Karnak temple complex, a former religious nucleus of Thebes and Upper Egypt. A grand avenue, flanked by sphinxes, linked this complex to Luxor, while a canal facilitated the movement of the revered god Amun's sacred boats from the Nile. Ramesses II's sphinx-lined avenue guides us to a colossal pylon entrance, granting access to a vast courtyard housing chapels dedicated to deities like Amun, Khous, and Mut. Inside the extraordinary Hypostyle Hall, 134 monumental columns adorned with divine depictions and hieroglyphics await exploration. An optional hot air balloon ride promises a breathtaking sunrise perspective over the west bank of the Nile, requiring an early start.

Today offers leisure time at the hotel or an opportunity for an extended exploration of Egyptian heritage through optional tours. The Ramesseum, Medinat Habu, and Valley of the Queens on the Nile's west bank, along with the intriguing Luxor Museum, present enriching experiences. Additionally, immerse yourself deeper in Luxor's essence, whether through market strolls, visits to the mummification museum, or serene felucca rides to Banana Island. Your tour guide will readily arrange these extra visits, or you can pre-book these sightseeing tours. Later in the evening, we return to the station for an overnight sleeper train journey back to Cairo, with flight upgrades available upon request..

Day 6ThursdayCairo, free day Breakfast Down

Returning to Cairo this morning, we transfer to the hotel, granting ample free time for personal exploration or opting for an additional tour. The city tour explores Coptic Cairo, the Citadel, and Mohamed Ali Mosque, while the half-day Saqqara, Dashour, and Memphis tour delves into the evolution of pyramid construction. Full-day options include excursions to Alexandria or the desert for the Valley of the Whales at Wadi Rayan (you'll miss the bazaar walk if you take these full day options). In the late afternoon, a guided stroll leads through Old Cairo's labyrinthine backstreets and bustling bazaars. We traverse the Bab al-Futuh gateway, venturing through streets brimming with artisanal specialties-metalwork, spices, fabrics, and more-ultimately reaching the iconic Khan-el-Khalili bazaar. Pause for a refreshing moment with mint tea and a shisha pipe while seizing the opportunity for memorable souvenirs before concluding our Egyptian journey.

Day 7FridayCairo Breakfast Down

You have the day at leisure for any final sightseeing or shopping before your airport transfer for departure. Evening flights enable participation in the Cairo City Tour or Saqqara, Dashour and Memphis tours. Extending your stay in Cairo offers the opportunity for a day trip to Alexandria or exploring the desert's Valley of the Whales at Wadi Rayan, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Notes

  1. Group Size : Minimum Group Size of 2. Maximum Group Size of 18.
  2. Age : Minimum Age of 8. Whilst there is no Maximum Age set it is assumed the customer is fit enough to take part in the activity or tour. Health documents may be requested.
  3. Single travellers are obliged to pay Single Supplement and will have the hotel room to themselves.
  4. Hotel Gala Dinners - Hotel Gala Dinners - Many of Egypt and Jordan's hotels and Nile cruise boats arrange a very special gala dinner with entertainment in the evening on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Payment for these is often optional on Christmas Eve (24 Dec) but may be compulsory on New Year's Eve (31 Dec), whether you attend or not. Prices can range from around US$50 to over US$150 per person. Final decisions on prices and whether dinners are compulsory are made relatively close to the time. We aim to always select hotels that make their Gala Dinners optional, though this is is not always possible. Gala dinner prices are therefore not included in our tour prices, but will be added to your booking if they become required. More information is available on request.
  5. Child Discount : Age 8 - 11 sharing room with 2 full paying adults pays 25% and child will have a fold up bed.
